Today's Update
Sep. 9th, 2020 10:54 pmIt's been longer than I wanted since I last updated, but frankly, not much has happened since I did. But some things happened, so let's recap!
~ We went to King's Landing this past Sunday and saw about half of it before our energy gave out. Which is better than I expected, honestly. We had a great time wandering around the living history village, I got to geek out about old-timey stuff that I recognized and about fibre arts and stuff, and we got to ride in a wagon on the way back to the entrance, which was fun. The staff were all wearing masks, visitors had to wear masks inside buildings, and hand sanitizer stations were placed all over, so the open-air museum was as safe as it could be given the pandemic. If anyone's curious, I posted some of the better photos of the trip on my Instagram, so you can get a bit of a glimpse into what King's Landing is like.
I hadn't been there since I was a kid, and it was really nice to go back, even if we didn't have the chance to see it all. We probably wouldn't have thought to do so had the library not been giving away free passes, though really, admission is under $20 per adult, and we probably could have swung that if push came to shove. But not having to budget an extra $40 really was great incentive to have a lovely day trip.
~ The downside is that I'm still recovering from that trip. I expected Monday to be the worst day for fatigue and pain, but it seems to have just steadily gotten worse since then, and I'm not sure when the "getting worse" is going to level out. I've been sleeping more the past few days, my limbs have hurt more, and it's harder to walk. I expected a recovery period, but I just expected the worst to be immediately after the excursion, not a ramp-up for days.
~ Still haven't been playing many video games or reading many books (thanks, brain fog), but I have managed to knit most of the baby hats a friend asked me for, which is something. Knitting hurts my arms more than it used to (I might need to learn how to pick rather than throw), but things are coming along stitch by stitch. I started on the last one today, so they should be ready to send to her by the end of the week, if I work hard tomorrow.
